Acf is a WordPress platform. Advanced Form Integration sends form submissions to Acf, so every form entry on your WordPress site can create or update records automatically without manual data entry.

What you’ll need

  • An active Acf account.
  • An API key from Acf (see below).
  • The Advanced Form Integration plugin installed and activated.

Get your Acf API key

Acf authenticates with an API key.

  1. Sign in to your Acf account.
  2. Navigate to the API or integrations section in your account settings.
  3. Generate or copy your API Key.
  4. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Acf, click Add New Account, and paste the key.

Connect Acf to AFI

  1. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings and open the Acf tab.
  2. Click Add New Account and paste the API key or token.
  3. Give the account a name you will recognise.
  4. Click Save.

Create the integration

  1. Go to AFI → Add New.
  2. Give the integration a name, for example Form to Acf.
  3. Under Trigger, pick the form plugin and the specific form you want to listen on.
  4. Under Action → Platform, select Acf.
  5. In Task, choose Update Field.
  6. Pick the saved account in the Acf Account dropdown.
  7. Map your form fields onto the Acf fields listed below.
  8. Optional: open Conditional Logic to limit which submissions are sent.
  9. Click Save Integration.

Tasks supported

Update Field

Updates a custom field value from the form submission.

Field Field key Required Notes
Post ID postId Yes Required. A post ID (123
Field Name or Key selector Yes Required. The ACF field
Value value Yes Required.

Conditional logic example

Only send data to Acf when the form’s email field is not empty, so test submissions or incomplete entries do not create records. Add a condition: Email is not empty.

Troubleshooting

Nothing arrives in Acf

Open AFI → Log and find the most recent entry for this integration. AFI stores the request it sent and the raw response it got back. If there is no log entry at all, the trigger never fired: re-check the form selection and submit a real test entry from the front end.

API key rejected

Copy the key directly from Acf with no leading or trailing spaces. If the key was revoked or regenerated, update it in AFI → Settings → Acf.
