WP Job Manager
WP Job Manager adds job listings and a front-end job submission form to WordPress, with a paid add-on ecosystem for applications, resumes, and paid postings. Advanced Form Integration captures published jobs and job applications and routes the data to any of 200+ destinations. AFI’s WP Job Manager integration runs on the free version of AFI, with the field limit noted below.
What you’ll need
- The WP Job Manager plugin installed and activated.
- For the application trigger only: the paid WP Job Manager Applications add-on. Base WP Job Manager has no applications feature at all.

How AFI listens for job events
Job Published watches core’s transition_post_status and filters for post_type equal to job_listing moving into publish from something else, so re-saving an already published job does not re-dispatch. Everything it reads is genuinely built into the free plugin: the job_listing post type, the _company_name, _company_website, _job_location, and _job_salary meta keys, and the job_listing_type taxonomy.
Job Application Submitted hooks new_job_application, which is the real hook name published in WP Job Manager’s own Applications snippets documentation. There is no job_application_submitted hook despite how often that name is repeated in tutorials. The Applications add-on is closed source, so its field storage cannot be verified against public source the way core’s can: on the best available evidence, the applicant name lives on post_title rather than a meta key, the email is _candidate_email, and the resume is an attachment reference that AFI resolves to a URL.
The job poster is included too
For Job Published, AFI also merges in the posting author’s user ID, email, and display name, so you can notify or credit whoever submitted the listing.
Troubleshooting
Jobs approved from pending do not fire
They should. The check is that the new status is publish and the old status is not. If nothing arrives, confirm the listing really is a job_listing post and not a custom post type from a theme.
The application trigger never fires
Base WP Job Manager does not include applications. Without the paid Applications add-on there is no new_job_application hook on the site at all.
Resume URL is empty
Either the candidate applied without attaching a file, or you are on the free AFI tier where the resume fields are not dispatched.
