How to Send Charitable Data to Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is a messaging platform. Events can trigger instant notifications. Here is how to pipe Charitable donation straight into Microsoft Teams using Advanced Form Integration. The setup takes about five minutes and runs entirely on your own server.
The direct approach
AFI delivers donation data straight from WordPress to Microsoft Teams. No third-party cloud, no per-task fees, and every request is logged for troubleshooting.
What you will need
- A WordPress site with Charitable installed and configured.
- A Microsoft Teams account.
- The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).
Connect Microsoft Teams to AFI
Microsoft Teams uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication. In AFI → Settings → Microsoft Teams, click Authorize and grant access. This is a one-time step.
Setting up the integration
1. Create a new integration
Go to AFI → Add New. Name it Charitable to Microsoft Teams.
2. Pick your trigger
Select Charitable as the form provider. AFI fires when a donation is made through a fundraising campaign, giving you access to donor name, email, donation amount, campaign ID, and gateway.
3. Select Microsoft Teams as the destination
Choose Microsoft Teams from the platform dropdown and pick Send Message. This sends a message to a Microsoft Teams channel.
4. Map fields
Match each Microsoft Teams field on the left to the corresponding Charitable field on the right. Common mappings include donor name, email, donation amount, campaign ID, and gateway. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.
5. Add conditions if needed
Only want to send certain records? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.
6. Save and test
Click Save Integration. Trigger a test event in Charitable. Check Microsoft Teams to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.
Free vs Pro
The free version maps message text to Microsoft Teams with unlimited records. Pro adds channel selection via webhook. No per-record fees on any plan.
Frequently asked questions
Which Charitable events trigger the integration?
AFI fires when a donation is made through a fundraising campaign. This covers new submissions and relevant status changes.
Will adding this slow down my site?
No. AFI sends data to the destination after the event completes. Your site performance is not affected.
Can I send data to multiple platforms?
Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every record flows to all of them simultaneously.
