How to Send weForms Data to Trello
Trello is a project management tool for organizing work and collaborating. Here is how to pipe weForms submission straight into Trello using Advanced Form Integration. The setup takes about five minutes and runs entirely on your own server.
The direct approach
AFI delivers submission data straight from WordPress to Trello. No third-party cloud, no per-task fees, and every request is logged for troubleshooting.
What you will need
- A WordPress site with weForms installed and configured.
- A Trello account.
- The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).
Connect Trello to AFI
- Go to trello.com/1/appKey to get your API Key.
- Authorize and get your API Token.
- In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Trello.
- Enter the API Key and Token, then click Save.
Setting up the integration
1. Create a new integration
Go to AFI → Add New. Name it weForms to Trello.
2. Pick your trigger
Select weForms as the form provider. AFI fires when a form is submitted, giving you access to submitter name, email, phone, and any custom form fields.
3. Select Trello as the destination
Choose Trello from the platform dropdown and pick Create Card. This creates a card on a Trello board.
4. Map fields
Match each Trello field on the left to the corresponding weForms field on the right. Common mappings include submitter name, email, phone, and any custom form fields. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.
5. Add conditions if needed
Only want to send certain records? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.
6. Save and test
Click Save Integration. Trigger a test event in weForms. Check Trello to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.
Free vs Pro
The free version maps card name, description, and list to Trello with unlimited records. Pro adds custom field mapping and label assignment. No per-record fees on any plan.
Frequently asked questions
Which weForms events trigger the integration?
AFI fires when a form is submitted. This covers new submissions and relevant status changes.
Will adding this slow down my site?
No. AFI sends data to the destination after the event completes. Your site performance is not affected.
Can I send data to multiple platforms?
Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every record flows to all of them simultaneously.
