How to Send LifterLMS Enrollments to Intercom

Intercom is a customer messaging platform. Enrollment events can trigger instant notifications. Here is how to pipe LifterLMS data straight into Intercom using Advanced Form Integration. The setup takes about five minutes and runs entirely on your own server.

The direct approach

What you will need

• A WordPress site with LifterLMS installed and at least one course.
• A Intercom account.
• The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

Connect Intercom to AFI

1. Log in to your Intercom workspace.
2. Go to Settings → API Keys and copy your Access Token.
3. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Intercom.
4. Paste the Access Token and click Save Changes.

Setting up the integration

1. Create a new integration

Go to AFI → Add New. Name it LifterLMS to Intercom.

2. Pick your trigger

Select LifterLMS as the form provider. AFI fires when a student enrolls in a course or purchases a membership, giving you access to student details, course information, and enrollment data.

3. Select Intercom as the destination

Choose Intercom from the platform dropdown and pick Add Contact. This creates or updates a contact in Intercom.

4. Map fields

Match each Intercom field on the left to the corresponding LifterLMS field on the right. Common mappings include student name, email, course title, and enrollment date. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.

5. Add conditions if needed

Only want to send certain enrollments? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.

6. Save and test

Click Save Integration. Complete a test enrollment in LifterLMS. Check Intercom to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.
