How to Send LifterLMS Enrollments to DocuSign
DocuSign is a document signing platform. LifterLMS manages a student enrolls in a course or purchases a membership, but sending that data to external platforms needs an integration. AFI bridges that gap to DocuSign.
Why not just use Zapier?
For connecting your LMS to document signing, a cloud automation service adds cost and a dependency on an external server. AFI runs on your site with no task limits.
What you will need
- A WordPress site with LifterLMS installed and at least one course.
- A DocuSign account.
- The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).
Connect DocuSign to AFI
DocuSign uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication. In AFI → Settings → DocuSign, click Authorize and grant access. This is a one-time step.
Setting up the integration
1. Create a new integration
Go to AFI → Add New. Name it LifterLMS to DocuSign.
2. Pick your trigger
Select LifterLMS as the form provider. AFI fires when a student enrolls in a course or purchases a membership, giving you access to student details, course information, and enrollment data.
3. Select DocuSign as the destination
Choose DocuSign from the platform dropdown and pick Send Envelope. This creates and sends an envelope in DocuSign.
4. Map fields
Match each DocuSign field on the left to the corresponding LifterLMS field on the right. Common mappings include student name, email, course title, and enrollment date. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.
5. Add conditions if needed
Only want to send certain enrollments? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.
6. Save and test
Click Save Integration. Complete a test enrollment in LifterLMS. Check DocuSign to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.
Free vs Pro
The free version maps recipient email and name to DocuSign with unlimited enrollments. Pro adds custom field mapping and template selection. No per-enrollment fees on any plan.
Frequently asked questions
Which LifterLMS events trigger the integration?
AFI fires when a student enrolls in a course or purchases a membership. This covers new enrollments, course completions, and student registrations.
Will adding this slow down my site?
No. AFI sends data to the destination after the enrollment event completes. Your students are not affected.
Can I send enrollments to multiple platforms?
Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every enrollment flows to all of them simultaneously.
