Customer.io is a marketing automation platform. Funnel Builder manages a visitor submits a form or completes a step in a funnel, but sending that data to external platforms needs an integration. AFI bridges that gap to Customer.io.

Why connect directly?

Cloud automation tools like Zapier charge per task and route your data through external servers. AFI processes everything on your WordPress site. No per-submission fees, no external dependencies.

What you will need

  • A WordPress site with Funnel Builder installed and configured.
  • A Customer.io account.
  • The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

Connect Customer.io to AFI

  1. Log in to your Customer.io account.
  2. Go to Settings → API Credentials and copy your Site ID and API Key.
  3. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Customer.io.
  4. Enter the Site ID and API Key, then click Save Changes.

Setting up the integration

1. Create a new integration

Go to AFI → Add New. Name it Funnel Builder to Customer.io.

2. Pick your trigger

Select Funnel Builder as the form provider. AFI fires when a visitor submits a form or completes a step in a funnel, giving you access to visitor name, email, phone, funnel step, and custom field values.

3. Select Customer.io as the destination

Choose Customer.io from the platform dropdown and pick Add Customer. This creates or updates a customer in Customer.io.

4. Map fields

Match each Customer.io field on the left to the corresponding Funnel Builder field on the right. Common mappings include visitor name, email, phone, funnel step, and custom field values. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.

5. Add conditions if needed

Only want to send certain records? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.

6. Save and test

Click Save Integration. Trigger a test event in Funnel Builder. Check Customer.io to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.

Free vs Pro

The free version maps email, name, and standard attributes to Customer.io with unlimited records. Pro adds custom attributes and event tracking. No per-record fees on any plan.

Frequently asked questions

Which Funnel Builder events trigger the integration?

AFI fires when a visitor submits a form or completes a step in a funnel. This covers new submissions and relevant status changes.

Will adding this slow down my site?

No. AFI sends data to the destination after the event completes. Your site performance is not affected.

Can I send data to multiple platforms?

Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every record flows to all of them simultaneously.
