How to Send Fluent Forms Submissions to Segment

Segment is a customer data platform. Fluent Forms is one of the fastest-growing form plugins for WordPress. Segment is where that data needs to go. Here is how to connect them without Zapier or code.

Why not just use Zapier?

For connecting Fluent Forms to customer data, a cloud automation service adds cost and a dependency on an external server. AFI runs on your site with no task limits.

What you will need

• A WordPress site with Fluent Forms installed and at least one form.
• A Segment account.
• The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

Connect Segment to AFI

1. Get your Segment Write Key.
2. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Segment.
3. Paste the Write Key.
4. Click Save Changes.

Setting up the integration

1. Create a new integration

Go to AFI → Add New. Name it Fluent Forms to Segment.

2. Pick your trigger

Select Fluent Forms as the form provider and choose the form you want to connect. AFI detects the fields automatically.

3. Select Segment as the destination

Choose Segment from the platform dropdown and pick Identify User. This identifies a user in Segment.

4. Map fields

Match each Segment field on the left to the corresponding Fluent Forms field on the right. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}} and {{utm_source}}.

5. Add conditions if needed

Only want to send certain submissions? Set up a conditional rule based on any form field value.

6. Save and test

Click Save Integration. Fill out your Fluent form and submit. Check Segment to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.
