Pardot is a marketing automation platform. Charitable handles a donation is made through a fundraising campaign on your WordPress site. Pardot is where that data needs to go. Here is how to connect them without Zapier or code.

Why connect directly?

Cloud automation tools like Zapier charge per task and route your data through external servers. AFI processes everything on your WordPress site. No per-donation fees, no external dependencies.

What you will need

  • A WordPress site with Charitable installed and configured.
  • A Pardot account.
  • The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

Connect Pardot to AFI

Pardot uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication. In AFI → Settings → Pardot, click Authorize and grant access. This is a one-time step.

Setting up the integration

1. Create a new integration

Go to AFI → Add New. Name it Charitable to Pardot.

2. Pick your trigger

Select Charitable as the form provider. AFI fires when a donation is made through a fundraising campaign, giving you access to donor name, email, donation amount, campaign ID, and gateway.

3. Select Pardot as the destination

Choose Pardot from the platform dropdown and pick Create Prospect. This creates a prospect in Pardot.

4. Map fields

Match each Pardot field on the left to the corresponding Charitable field on the right. Common mappings include donor name, email, donation amount, campaign ID, and gateway. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.

5. Add conditions if needed

Only want to send certain records? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.

6. Save and test

Click Save Integration. Trigger a test event in Charitable. Check Pardot to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.

Free vs Pro

The free version maps email, first name, and last name to Pardot with unlimited records. Pro adds custom field mapping. No per-record fees on any plan.

Frequently asked questions

Which Charitable events trigger the integration?

AFI fires when a donation is made through a fundraising campaign. This covers new submissions and relevant status changes.

Will adding this slow down my site?

No. AFI sends data to the destination after the event completes. Your site performance is not affected.

Can I send data to multiple platforms?

Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every record flows to all of them simultaneously.
