Airtable combines spreadsheet simplicity with database power. Each form submission becomes a structured record in your base.

Contact Form 7 is everywhere on WordPress. Airtable is where your data needs to go. The gap between them is what this guide closes, no Zapier, no code, no monthly automation bill.

Why connect directly?

Third-party automation tools like Zapier charge per task and route your data through external servers. Advanced Form Integration runs on your WordPress site, so there are no per-submission fees and every request is logged for troubleshooting.

What you will need

  • A WordPress site with Contact Form 7 installed and at least one form.
  • A Airtable account.
  • The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

Connect Airtable to AFI

  1. Log in to Airtable and open the base you want to connect.
  2. Go to Account → API Keys and generate a Personal Access Token.
  3. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Airtable.
  4. Enter your Base ID and API Key, then click Save.

Setting up the integration

1. Create a new integration

Go to AFI → Add New. Give it a name like CF7 to Airtable.

2. Pick your trigger

Select Contact Form 7 as the form provider and choose the form you want to connect. AFI detects the fields automatically.

3. Select Airtable as the destination

Choose Airtable from the platform dropdown and select Create Record. This creates a new record in an Airtable base.

4. Map fields

Match each Airtable field on the left to the corresponding Contact Form 7 field on the right. You can also insert static text or dynamic smart tags like {{_submission_date}} and {{user_ip}}.

5. Add conditions if needed

Only want to send certain submissions? Set up a conditional rule. For example, only create a record when a checkbox is checked or when the email field is not empty.

6. Save and test

Click Save Integration. Fill out your form and submit. Check Airtable to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.

Free vs Pro

The free version maps name, email, and standard fields to Airtable with unlimited submissions. Pro unlocks custom field mapping for all Airtable column types. No per-submission fees on any plan.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need coding skills?

No. Everything is configured through a visual interface, including field mapping.

Will adding this slow down my form?

No. AFI sends data to Airtable after the form submission completes. Your visitors see the normal success message without any delay.

What if Airtable is down when a form is submitted?

AFI queues the data via background processing and retries automatically. You can also manually resend from the log screen.
