Trello is a project management tool for organizing work and collaborating. The Events Calendar manages an event RSVP or ticket order is submitted, but sending that data to external platforms needs an integration. AFI bridges that gap to Trello.

Why connect directly?

Cloud automation tools like Zapier charge per task and route your data through external servers. AFI processes everything on your WordPress site. No per-event fees, no external dependencies.

What you will need

  • A WordPress site with The Events Calendar installed and configured.
  • A Trello account.
  • The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

Connect Trello to AFI

  1. Go to trello.com/1/appKey to get your API Key.
  2. Authorize and get your API Token.
  3. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Trello.
  4. Enter the API Key and Token, then click Save.

Setting up the integration

1. Create a new integration

Go to AFI → Add New. Name it The Events Calendar to Trello.

2. Pick your trigger

Select The Events Calendar as the form provider. AFI fires when an event RSVP or ticket order is submitted, giving you access to attendee name, email, event title, event date, ticket type, and order total.

3. Select Trello as the destination

Choose Trello from the platform dropdown and pick Create Card. This creates a card on a Trello board.

4. Map fields

Match each Trello field on the left to the corresponding The Events Calendar field on the right. Common mappings include attendee name, email, event title, event date, ticket type, and order total. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.

5. Add conditions if needed

Only want to send certain records? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.

6. Save and test

Click Save Integration. Trigger a test event in The Events Calendar. Check Trello to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.

Free vs Pro

The free version maps card name, description, and list to Trello with unlimited records. Pro adds custom field mapping and label assignment. No per-record fees on any plan.

Frequently asked questions

Which The Events Calendar events trigger the integration?

AFI fires when an event RSVP or ticket order is submitted. This covers new submissions and relevant status changes.

Will adding this slow down my site?

No. AFI sends data to the destination after the event completes. Your site performance is not affected.

Can I send data to multiple platforms?

Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every record flows to all of them simultaneously.
