Intercom is a customer messaging platform. Events can trigger instant notifications. Here is how to pipe FluentCRM contact straight into Intercom using Advanced Form Integration. The setup takes about five minutes and runs entirely on your own server.

The direct approach

AFI delivers contact data straight from WordPress to Intercom. No third-party cloud, no per-task fees, and every request is logged for troubleshooting.

What you will need

  • A WordPress site with FluentCRM installed and configured.
  • A Intercom account.
  • The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

Connect Intercom to AFI

  1. Log in to your Intercom workspace.
  2. Go to Settings → API Keys and copy your Access Token.
  3. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Intercom.
  4. Paste the Access Token and click Save Changes.

Setting up the integration

1. Create a new integration

Go to AFI → Add New. Name it FluentCRM to Intercom.

2. Pick your trigger

Select FluentCRM as the form provider. AFI fires when a contact submits a form or a tag is applied, giving you access to contact name, email, phone, tags, and custom field values.

3. Select Intercom as the destination

Choose Intercom from the platform dropdown and pick Add Contact. This creates or updates a contact in Intercom.

4. Map fields

Match each Intercom field on the left to the corresponding FluentCRM field on the right. Common mappings include contact name, email, phone, tags, and custom field values. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.

5. Add conditions if needed

Only want to send certain records? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.

6. Save and test

Click Save Integration. Trigger a test event in FluentCRM. Check Intercom to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.

Free vs Pro

The free version maps email and name to Intercom with unlimited records. Pro adds custom attributes and company assignment. No per-record fees on any plan.

Frequently asked questions

Which FluentCRM events trigger the integration?

AFI fires when a contact submits a form or a tag is applied. This covers new submissions and relevant status changes.

Will adding this slow down my site?

No. AFI sends data to the destination after the event completes. Your site performance is not affected.

Can I send data to multiple platforms?

Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every record flows to all of them simultaneously.
