How to Send AffiliateWP Data to Mailchimp
Mailchimp is a platform platform. If you want AffiliateWP an affiliate registers or a referral is generated synced to Mailchimp, you could pay for a cloud automation service. Or you could do it directly from WordPress. This is the direct route.
Why not just use Zapier?
For connecting your affiliate program to platform, a cloud automation service adds cost and a dependency on an external server. AFI runs on your site with no task limits.
What you will need
- A WordPress site with AffiliateWP installed and configured.
- A Mailchimp account.
- The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).
Connect Mailchimp to AFI
Mailchimp uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication. In AFI → Settings → Mailchimp, click Authorize and grant access. This is a one-time step.
Setting up the integration
1. Create a new integration
Go to AFI → Add New. Name it AffiliateWP to Mailchimp.
2. Pick your trigger
Select AffiliateWP as the form provider. AFI fires when an affiliate registers or a referral is generated, giving you access to affiliate details, referral amounts, and commission data.
3. Select Mailchimp as the destination
Choose Mailchimp from the platform dropdown and pick Add Record. This creates a record in Mailchimp.
4. Map fields
Match each Mailchimp field on the left to the corresponding AffiliateWP field on the right. Common mappings include affiliate name, email, referral ID, commission amount, and status. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.
5. Add conditions if needed
Only want to send certain referrals? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.
6. Save and test
Click Save Integration. Trigger a test event in AffiliateWP. Check Mailchimp to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.
Free vs Pro
The free version maps name and email to Mailchimp with unlimited referrals. Pro adds custom field mapping. No per-referral fees on any plan.
Frequently asked questions

Will adding this slow down my site?
No. AFI sends data to the destination after the affiliate event completes. Your site performance is not affected.
Can I send affiliate data to multiple platforms?
Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every event flows to all of them simultaneously.
