Notion is a productivity and database platform. bbPress manages a user creates a topic or replies in a forum, but sending that data to external platforms needs an integration. AFI bridges that gap to Notion.

Why connect directly?

Cloud automation tools like Zapier charge per task and route your data through external servers. AFI processes everything on your WordPress site. No per-registration fees, no external dependencies.

What you will need

  • A WordPress site with bbPress installed and configured.
  • A Notion account.
  • The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

Connect Notion to AFI

  1. Go to your Notion workspace and create an integration at notion.so/my-integrations.
  2. Copy the Internal Integration Secret.
  3. Share your target database with the integration.
  4. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Notion and paste the token.

Setting up the integration

1. Create a new integration

Go to AFI → Add New. Name it bbPress to Notion.

2. Pick your trigger

Select bbPress as the form provider. AFI fires when a user creates a topic or replies in a forum, giving you access to member details, profile fields, and activity data.

3. Select Notion as the destination

Choose Notion from the platform dropdown and pick Add Database Item. This creates a new item in a Notion database.

4. Map fields

Match each Notion field on the left to the corresponding bbPress field on the right. Common mappings include member name, email, profile data, and activity type. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.

5. Add conditions if needed

Only want to send certain activities? Set up a conditional rule based on any field value.

6. Save and test

Click Save Integration. Trigger a test a user creates a topic or replies in a forum in bbPress. Check Notion to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.

Free vs Pro

The free version maps title, and standard properties to Notion with unlimited events. Pro adds custom property mapping for all Notion field types. No per-event fees on any plan.

Frequently asked questions

Which bbPress events trigger the integration?

AFI fires when a user creates a topic or replies in a forum. This covers member registrations, profile updates, and group joins.

Will adding this slow down my site?

No. AFI sends data to the destination after the community event completes. Your members are not affected.

Can I send member data to multiple platforms?

Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every event flows to all of them simultaneously.
