How to Send Happy Forms Submissions to Customer.io
Customer.io is a marketing automation platform. Here is how to pipe Happy Forms submissions straight into Customer.io using Advanced Form Integration. The setup takes about five minutes and runs entirely on your own server.
Skip the automation middleman
Rather than routing data through a third-party cloud, AFI sends it directly from your WordPress server to marketing automation. No task meter, no monthly bill.
What you will need
- A WordPress site with Happy Forms installed and at least one form.
- A Customer.io account.
- The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

- Log in to your Customer.io account.
- Go to Settings → API Credentials and copy your Site ID and API Key.
- In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → Customer.io.
- Enter the Site ID and API Key, then click Save Changes.
Setting up the integration
1. Create a new integration
Go to AFI → Add New. Name it Happy Forms to Customer.io.
2. Pick your trigger
Select Happy Forms as the form provider and choose the form you want to connect. AFI detects the fields automatically.
3. Select Customer.io as the destination
Choose Customer.io from the platform dropdown and pick Add Customer. This creates or updates a customer in Customer.io.
4. Map fields
Match each Customer.io field on the left to the corresponding Happy Forms field on the right. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}} and {{utm_source}}.
5. Add conditions if needed
Only want to send certain submissions? Set up a conditional rule based on any form field value.
6. Save and test
Click Save Integration. Fill out your Happy Forms form and submit. Check Customer.io to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.
Free vs Pro
The free version maps email, name, and standard attributes to Customer.io with unlimited submissions. Pro adds custom attributes and event tracking. No per-submission fees on any plan.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need coding skills?

No. AFI sends data to the destination after the form submission completes. Your visitors see the normal confirmation message without any delay.
Can I connect multiple forms?
Yes. Create a separate integration for each form, or send one form to multiple platforms.
