dotdigital is a marketing automation platform. WooCommerce powers millions of online stores. dotdigital is where your customer and order data needs to go. Here is how to connect them without Zapier or code.

Why connect directly?

Cloud automation tools like Zapier charge per task and route your data through external servers. AFI processes everything on your WordPress site. No per-order fees, no external dependencies.

What you will need

  • A WordPress site with WooCommerce installed and configured.
  • A dotdigital account.
  • The Advanced Form Integration plugin (free from WordPress.org).

Connect dotdigital to AFI

  1. Log in to your dotdigital account.
  2. Go to Settings → API and copy your API User and Password.
  3. In WordPress, go to AFI → Settings → dotdigital.
  4. Enter the credentials and region, then click Save.

Setting up the integration

1. Create a new integration

Go to AFI → Add New. Name it WooCommerce to dotdigital.

2. Pick your trigger

Select WooCommerce as the form provider. AFI fires when an order status changes, giving you access to customer details, billing and shipping addresses, line items, totals, and payment method.

3. Select dotdigital as the destination

Choose dotdigital from the platform dropdown and pick Add Contact. This adds a contact to dotdigital.

4. Map fields

Match each dotdigital field on the left to the corresponding WooCommerce order field on the right. Common mappings include customer name, email, phone, billing address, order total, and product details. You can also use smart tags like {{_submission_date}}.

5. Add conditions if needed

Only want to send certain orders? Set up a conditional rule. For example, only sync orders above a specific total, or only completed orders.

6. Save and test

Click Save Integration. Place a test order in your WooCommerce store. Check dotdigital to confirm the data arrived. If anything looks wrong, open AFI → Log to see the exact request and response.

Free vs Pro

The free version maps email and name to dotdigital with unlimited orders. Pro adds custom field mapping. No per-order fees on any plan.

Frequently asked questions

Which WooCommerce events trigger the integration?

AFI fires when an order status changes (for example, pending to processing, or processing to completed). This covers new orders, successful payments, refunds, and cancellations.

Will adding this slow down my checkout?

No. AFI sends data to the destination after the order is processed. Your customers complete checkout normally without any delay.

Can I send orders to multiple platforms?

Yes. Create a separate integration for each destination, and every order flows to all of them simultaneously.
